About The event

The first annual “ICE CREAM WE LOVE” celebration throughout Bal Harbour Shops will feature over 20 of the country’s best ice cream makers, scooping their flavors for the whole family to enjoy. All proceeds from this tasty fundraising event will benefit Holtz Children’s Hospital. This inaugural fundraiser will celebrate the legacy of Bal Harbour Shops founder, Stanley Whitman, who was a longtime supporter of Holtz Children’s Hospital and lover of ice cream.

Children’s Programming for “Ice Cream We Love”

Books & Books, Level Three

Meet Juana la Iguana costume character as she presents storytelling based on a series of children’s books with arts and crafts provided by Kiddos Magazine.

  • Collection: A Song in a Story – Una canción en un cuento
    This is a collection of stories based on children´s Spanish songs that feature rhythms and melodies of Hispanic tradition in a modern version.

    These traditional songs that have been passed from generation to generation foster memorization and stimulate imagination.
     
  • Juana la Iguana – Los Pollitos Dicen/ Little Chicks Say
    In this entertaining story Juana la Iguana engages readers to act with their little ones to promote curiosity and memorization. This bilingual book is also a great tool to teach another language to children.
     
  • Juana la Iguana – Contemos los Elefantes / Let’s Count The Elephants
    In this entertaining bilingual story Juana la Iguana engages readers to learn the concepts of numbers and values. Based on colorful and cute characters, the book engages children's minds to anticipate the numbers and encourages their participation in the story.
     
  • Juana la Iguana – El Misterio de las Notas Musicales – The Mystery of the Musical Notes
    The mystery of the musical notes is a playful book for kids to introduce the concept of musical notes in a fun way. It all starts when Tapirote, a silly pirate, takes the notes from the musical staff because he thinks they are made of gold. This is a perfect book to expose kids to musical concepts.

Group reading by visiting authors from the Society of Children’s Book Writers and Illustrators including Zebo Ludvicek, Lin Oliver, Jonathan Maberry, and Fred Koehler.

 

4:00pm

Special appearance by bestselling children’s author Neal Shusterman, New York Times bestselling author of more than thirty award-winning books for children, teens, and adults, as he presents his latest book Thunderhead.
