The Creative Challenge is back! In our annual call for inspired illustrations, we’re looking for promising young artists to submit a new, original work that captures the spirit of Bal Harbour Shops. Guest judges, artists Sebastian Marc Graham and Victoria Tentler-Krylov, will join our editorial team in selecting the winner, whose entry will be published in the Fall/Winter 2024 issue of Bal Harbour magazine and will also receive $2,500.

Please submit your high-res jpeg entry (one entry per person) by July 1, 2024 using the portal below, and share your entry on IG by tagging it #BHSCreative. We will not accept entries prior to May 1, 2024.

Championing Fashion Illustration

Bal Harbour magazine has been a longtime champion of fashion illustration, featuring the work of established and rising talent alike including David Downton, Donald Robertson, Jean-Philippe Delhomme, Ruben Toledo, Kelly Beeman, Jenny Walton, Cara Deming Butler and many more. We launched the Creative Challenge in 2020 as a means of further expanding our support of this genre and its creators.

Guidelines

Starting May 1, 2024, entrants may submit one original artwork for review. AI-generated submissions will not be accepted. One winner will be chosen to receive $2,500, and their work will be published in the Fall/Winter 2024 issue of Bal Harbour magazine. The winner will be notified by July 19th.

Meet the Judges

Spanish artist Sebastian Marc Graham, winner of the 2023 BHS Creative Challenge, grew up on the island of Majorca before moving to the resort town of Marbella. Inspired by nature , his colorful watercolors reflect his seaside upbringing and international outlook. Graham’s art can be found around the world as illustrations, murals, and fashion fabric prints—a dress bearing his design was worn by Queen Letizia of Spain last year. Follow him @sebastianmarcgraham.

Victoria Tentler-Krylov is a New York-based illustrator, and the winner of the 2022 BHS Creative Challenge. Her work varies from books to editorial, including several covers of The New Yorker, and illustrations for The New York Times and Wall Street Journal. Follow her @victoria.krylov.illustration.
