When it comes to dressing for the links, American Ryder Cup Captain Keegan Bradley is serious about his style. “Your look emphasizes your performance, especially in the Ryder Cup,” he said during a recent interview on The Today Show where he revealed the American team’s new uniforms. Since 2012, Ralph Lauren has served as the official outfitter for Team USA, and in that time, the Americans’ uniforms have adopted a more timeless aesthetic, one that leans heavily on bold stripes and, appropriately, a red-white-and-blue color scheme.

The course at Bethpage Black, New York will host this weekend’s Ryder Cup.

While impassioned play dominates the course every two years, fashion—as it relates to the two teams’ uniforms—is also highly contested, albeit unofficially. “Putting the Ralph Lauren uniforms on, you feel proud and you feel ready,” said Bradley. “After all, what’s more Red, White & Blue than Ralph Lauren?”

Over the last 30 years, which constitutes 14 Ryder Cup matches, the European team has won or retained the cup 10 times. Here’s to hoping that new uniforms will see the tide turn, bringing a big victory to Bradley and his 11 teammates as they take to the greens at Bethpage Black, New York.

What To Wear to the Ryder Cup 2025

On September 26, the legendary Ryder Cup returns to the town of Bethpage on Long Island, New York.

And gents, if you’re heading north from our still summery climes, our suggestion is to dress with a nod to the game’s heritage while pushing into sharper, cooler and more contemporary territory. Ralph Lauren, the event’s longtime apparel sponsor, is a natural touchstone: think polos in subtler earth-toned hues (as opposed to preppy brights), easygoing roomy trousers and classic baseball caps. Early autumn on the East End can swing from brisk mornings to warm afternoons and back again, so layering is also worth considering—bring a sweater along (maybe from Bottega Veneta, which is making some great and timeless knitwear right now). Classic colorways work well, but don’t shy from slightly more unexpected pairings like tans with charcoal, or maroon and gold. The aim is to be polished without pretense, links-centric without cliché, and to deliver a look that feels equally at home in the stands or the clubhouse bar.
