Zimmermann Gets Dramatic

Model wearing Zimmermann gown standing in a field of flowers

There’s an understated throwback to 2000’s style with this belt—without being too overt.

Zimmermann’s Fall 2025 collection, Hypnotic, is a semi-nostalgic reverie—think equal parts romance and enigma—steeped in the atmosphere of Picnic at Hanging Rock, the cult 1975 Australian film now celebrating its 50th anniversary.

Rather than provide costume homage in her designs, Creative Director Nicky Zimmermann distills the film’s drama across feelings of both innocence and tension. The result is a richly layered narrative of silhouette, texture, and mood, all of it tinged with colors and tactility nodding to Picnic’s majestic Australian wilderness.

Billowing lace dresses, sheer organza layers, and harem pants channel something soft and dreamlike, while denim and heavy outerwear ground the collection with a tougher edge. Earth-toned suiting and pinstripes nod to school uniforms and riding wear, and graphics like subtly printed maps or stitched-in Valentine’s notes function almost as clues to a lore-filled story. The palette shifts from soft creams to shadowy moss to midnight blue, as if watching a day pass by in the Outback.

Intricate embroideries, like inky florals creeping across necklines, evoke a garden half-remembered, half-imagined. Accessories in fractured stone and suede root the ethereal in the real. In Hypnotic, nostalgia shimmers into something new: beauty tinged with a kinetic kind of frisson of what’s to come, as if living in a lucid dream you’re never quite ready to leave.

  1. Zimmermann black waist belt
A belt that turns heads. There’s an understated throwback to 2000’s style with this piece, as well, without being too overt.
  2. Zimmermann olive handbag
Moss-hued suede, a drawstring closure with an almost Western look and a skinny chain make for a bag that feels directly influenced by the lore of Australia’s landscape.
  3. Zimmermann wheat heeled sandal
Mid-height. High-impact. Effortless braided leather sandals like these are great for putting together a casual, on-the-go look.
  4. Zimmermann shift dress with love letter and heart designs
This easygoing t-shirt dress—embellished at the collar and hemline with crystals—features whimsical prints of Valentine’s Day love letters.
  5. Zimmermann cream lace pants
High drama silhouette, soft-impact fabrication: one of Zimmermann’s brand strengths is to combine almost opposite inspirations into wearable, unique piece.
  6. Zimmermann maxi skirt with a map print design
A perfect shade of rust, a hint of utility: this is a very cool, confident maxi skirt.
  7. Zimmermann tailored jacket in cream
A wardrobe staple in a color befitting Miami and other tropical locales. The single button adds a nostalgic element, too. This blazer is uncomplicated yet unmistakably stylish.
  8. Zimmermann ruffled snake print maxi dress
This is our favorite piece in the collection. It’s almost haunting—a fresh take on the term “bohemian.” Zimmermann is famous for making beautiful dresses, and this one is near the top.
  9. Zimmermann toffee and snake print utility mini skirt
This piece is among the bolder items in Zimmermann’s fall collection. It’s perfect for a night out in the Magic City, where style is not shy.
  10. Zimmermann chandelier earrings in antique gold
Moody and intriguing, these chandelier earrings almost have a saloon-town quality to them. They’ll definitely turn heads.
  11. Zimmermann pleated picnic dress in cream with a charm design
A deceptive dress: simple in impression, but technical in execution. We love the accordion pleats the the understated but still graphic chain print.
  12. Zimmermann handbag with a snake print and gold hardware
Statement-making but not over the top. We love the geometric element here; this clutch has a stone-like form, and it is given graphic pop by the faux python treatment.
