Say Yes to the Dress

Wedding season is officially upon us and Oscar de la Renta’s Spring/Summer 2020 Bridal Collection is dreamier than you’d imagine.

British-Jamaican designer Martine Rose has just joined Balenciaga as Creative Director, succeeding Pierpaolo Piccioli. Rose has had her own eponymous line since 2007, which is heavily influenced by hip-hop and rave culture. She first worked with the French house as a consultant in 2015 under Demna and has since collaborated with brands like Nike and created concert merch for Kendrick Lamar and Baby Keem. We look forward to seeing how she helps Balenciaga evolve into its next wave.

Our judging panel, led by artist Patrick Morgan, along with Bal Harbour magazine, found great humor in the Milan-based artist’s whimsical illustration, where flamingos don coats and hide in boots and flowers bloom from bags. Congratulations to the runners up: Daniela Campo (Mexico City), Mike Giron (Miami), and Oksana Goldberg (Krakow), and thank you to the hundreds of artists who entered this year’s competition.
