One peek into Mary Alice Stephenson’s closet will inspire envy in even the most been-there, done-that fashionista. The space, recently redone by wardrobe geniuses, The Closet Factory, encompasses an impressive collection of runway showstoppers and artful accessories. It is so beautifully organized and decorated, it’s no wonder that it’s her favorite room. It also houses her Bardot, a gift from fashion photographer Terry O’Neill, and one of her favorite images in her growing gallery.
When she’s not styling celebrities or consulting, the Brooklyn mom loves using fashion as a way of giving back. As the national fashion ambassador for the Make A Wish foundation, she looks forward to granting makeovers each spring to aspiring models, designers, and fashion-obsessed teens. She cites Donna Karan and Ralph Lauren as philanthropic inspirations, noting “Fashion doesn’t feel good unless it does good.”

A chic carry all like Ralph Lauren’s Boston bag in metallic python is a must have for a woman always on the go.  Stephenson admits, “I change my bag everyday. I don’t wear It bags, but I love something big and unique.”

While diamonds may be a girl’s best friend, there’s nothing more stylish than statement jewelry. A bold necklace like Lanvin’s Wing pendant, seen here, or a Roger Vivier choker rank high on her list; “I love big metallic necklaces that make a statement.”

As for her spring must-haves, Stephenson cannot get enough of the season’s sultry sheer resort wear. She gushes over a Michael Kors glamorous zebra caftan (right) and Gucci’s sheer fringed cover-up (left). “This look from the Spring Gucci collection is so modern.”

For the perfect finishing touch, Stephenson looks to Dita sunglasses, her latest eyewear obsession. “A cat-eye style feels very fresh right now.”
