This fashion exec knows real style comes from within—even though she turns plenty of heads with her bold looks.

When June Haynes was a young girl in Guyana, she would spend her afternoons in her mom’s clothing store flipping through Vogue magazines that had been sent from America. The images made a lasting impression. After arriving in New York, the combination of determination and felicity landed her exactly where she wanted to be. Today, as the senior vice president of retail for Valentino, she oversees the operations for Valentino stores across the world, as well as acting as the brand’s unofficial style ambassador. Known for her collection of serious shoes and statement bags, Haynes says her iPad is actually her favorite accessory. “I can’t seem to leave home without it, although maybe it’s become fashion too?” When not running the business, she looks forward to the work she does with March for the Top, an organization that supports the underprivileged in Africa. “It brings me back to what’s really important and helps me be a better leader.”

When pressed to name her style icons, Haynes wisely replies, “We are all style icons. Fashion is about individual style.” And when it comes to her own style, there are certain key elements she cannot live without, like her edgy heels. “I live in these Valentino Rockstud heels.”

This Spring, Haynes is looking forward to the return of feminine silhouettes and all things lacey and lovely. “It’s the return of the dress this Spring.” Lucky for her, Valentino leads the way with loads of lace, ruffles and feminine frocks.

When it comes to beauty, there’s one simple rule for Haynes: “What can I say? Red is my favorite color.” And her go-to shade of red is Chanel’s Rouge Allure.

Although she’s deeply entrenched in the world of Valentino, Haynes does make the occasional purchase elsewhere. And what better place to start (continue and end) than at Hermes? “Edgy, but chic, this Hermès studded bracelet is my go-to accessory.” And that’s not the only Hermès in her closet. “I recently splurged on a red Birkin bag,” she admits.
