Feathering the Nest

Nest Casa, Bal Harbour.

Since Nest Casa opened at Bal Harbour last year, it’s become the go-to destination for fine home accessories and gifts. Its stylish founder, Sarah Colombo, scours the globe for unique products, from luxury names we’ve come to know well, to boutique brands carried exclusively at Nest. Here, Columbo shares some of her inspiration and tells us what’s in store at Nest.

What initially drew you to open at Bal Harbour?
Bal Harbour is the premier retail location in South Florida. I was thrilled to be able to expand NEST Casa into such a great location. Bal Harbour gives me the opportunity to reach a different clientele.

What are some of the lines you carry exclusively at Nest?
Hermès, Arca, Missoni Home, Baobab Collection and St. Louis crystal.

What is one of the newest additions to the store?
We have added much more tabletop pieces at the Bal Harbour store—and we’ll continue to expand this category. We are adding a wedding registry, table linen and many more “gifts for men” which is a hard category to fill.

What are a few of your favorite brands and why?
I am a huge fan of Baobab Collection candles. There are so many candles on the market but these are truly special. They are amazing quality—the fragrances are subtle and the oils are dispersed evenly through the entire candle, and the size and color choices are perfect! I am also a huge fan of Riviere Italy, which makes leather trays, boxes, pillows and frames. They are a rare breed that still produces objects by hand with an attention to detail you don’t find often anymore.

How would you describe your personal style?
I am definitely drawn to clean lines but I do like pattern and color. My style is quite classic. I like to invest in pieces that will last a long time and that I won’t be bored by easily.

What are some of your favorite places to go for inspiration?
I love to travel and always find something interesting everywhere I go. I find a lot of inspiration in my summer travels in Greece, Turkey and the Amalfi!
