Carine's World

Carine Roitfeld and Riccardo Tisci at the launch of CR Fashion Book.

Carine Roitfeld’s every step has been documented and speculated on since she left French Vogue last year. When she revealed she was working on a new magazine, a collective gasp could be heard from New York to Paris and the flurries of tweets began again.

CR Fashion Book was released during New York Fashion Week with a major black tie affair held at The Frick Collection. You’d be hard pressed to think of someone in the fashion universe (save for Anna Wintour) who wasn’t in attendance: Stephen Gan, Bruce Weber, Riccardo Tisci, Alexander Wang, Margherita Missoni, Alessandra Ambrosio, Karlie Kloss, Andre Leon Talley, Italo Zucchelli, Angela Lindvall, Joan Smalls, Inez van Lamsweerde, Vinoodh Matadin, Cecilia Dean, John Demsey, Jack McCollough, Lazaro Hernandez, Giovanna Battaglia, Renzo Rosso, Lindsey Wixson, Glenda Bailey, Constance Jablonski, Richard Chai, Reed Krakoff, Sante D'Orazio, Derek Lam, among many more.

But back to the magazine. The launch issue featured a dual cover, with model Kate Upton on one side and a young, unknown face on the other. The dual cover was a surprise to many, but what most bloggers and reporters were truly curious about was the “other girl” on the cover. The angelic blonde happily cradling a baby (the magazine’s theme was appropriately rebirth) is none other than Bal Harbour magazine editor in chief Sarah Harrelson’s daughter, Audrey.

In an interview with Carine Roitfeld by Eric Wilson in The New York Times, Roitfeld said: “I love this little girl; Bruce said she looks like a young Romy Schneider.” With the permission of her mother, we asked the “young Romy Schneider” a few questions about her first cover shoot and what it was like to work with Bruce Weber (again).

What was your favorite part of the photo shoot?
My favorite part of the shoot was getting to see all the baby animals on the shoot. There were the cutest baby pigs ever there! I wanted to take one home.

Were you excited when you found out you were on the cover of the magazine?
Yes. Super excited.

Did the editor, Carine, tell you anything about the story?
She told me it was about rebirth and babies because her daughter was having a baby.

Did you like the wardrobe?

What was your favorite outfit?
The blue princess outfit I wore on the cover.

Were you nervous holding a baby?
Yes. I was nervous and I thought I was going to drop her.

Tell us about the animals that were on set.
There were baby pigs, puppies, a baby donkey, chicks, baby bunnies, baby goats and lots of real babies!

You've been photographed by Bruce Weber before. What is he like?
He is soooo nice! And fun!

Did you know who the model was before you met her? Was she nice?
No, I did not know her, but I had just seen The Three Stooges so I wanted her autograph because that was the funniest movie and she was a nun in the movie.

Would you like to model again?
Of course!!

You also act, what are you working on now?
I am playing Fern in Charlotte's Web [at the Miami Children's Theater]. It starts in November. I love playing Fern.
