It’s easy to put on a statement piece, but the real test of style may be the understatement piece.

Big name jewelry brands always get a lot of press about their most expensive, elaborate or audacious designs. But, we’d like to turn our attention to the modern keepsakes that we choose to adorn ourselves with every day.
These are the pieces that have been designed not so much to make a statement as they are to simply underline the natural allure of the woman wearing them. Theirs is a quiet, arguably more personal, expression of luxury.
A new addition to Buccellati’s Hawaii collection (which debuted in the 1930s) is a pair of effortlessly wearable pendant earrings in white gold. The earrings—with their linking circles pattern—are a perfect example of how this sort of design has a timeless modernity.
Along these same lines, the round brilliant-cut diamond studs from Harry Winston have been an enduring classic for the house. The platinum settings of these earrings give the illusion that the diamond hovers like magic over one’s earlobe.
The Tiffany T bracelet, even though it has only existed for a handful of years, is already a modern minimalistic classic. With or without diamonds set into the T shaped tips of the bracelet, its design is both strong and feminine. The easy way it slides onto the wrist, and its ability to look fantastic next to other bracelets that might be stacked next to it are just two of the many reasons that this piece is one of Tiffany’s best sellers.
As for David Yurman, the use of two different colored precious metals for his twisting cable link drop earrings proves a clever move. The combination results in a more versatile and modern everyday accessory.
Other great effortless everyday jewelry designs include Pomellato's colorful turquoise ceramic and amethyst accent stone rose gold earrings inspired by the Mediterranean sea; the enduring allure of the Alhambra jewelry collection from Van Cleef & Arpels and the heartwarming “Happy Diamonds Icons” bracelet created by Chopard to support model Petra Nemcova’s Happy Hearts Fund.
For every bracelet bought, Chopard will donate 17 percent of the proceeds to the foundation, which helps rebuild schools and supports displaced children after natural disasters. The delicate bracelet features an 18k heart shaped charm with a pink sapphire that floats freely inside.
