Novety is the new now, based on all the one-of-a-kind graphics, whimsical animal motifs and quirky-cool accessories we’re seeing this season. As Gucci’s Alessandro Michele has repeatedly shown us with his tiger sweaters and dragonfly-encrusted bags, fashion should be fun. And just one unconventional piece adds plenty of personality to your look.

When Karl marched those “Viva Coco Libre” t-shirts down the Havana runway for Chanel’s Resort show, there was a collective gasp from fashion lovers everywhere. Must. Have. That. Tee. They’ve finally arrived in boutiques and instantly make an outfit, whether you wear yours with tweed or printed silk (à la Karl) or with a great pair of jeans.

Even the most devoted bag enthusiast doesn’t have this in her closet. Dolce & Gabbana created a special Miami collection exclusive to the Bal Harbour boutique, including three different sized bags, phone cases and scarves. The vibrant print blends luscious florals with the Miami skyline.

Leave it to a collection inspired by ’90s rave culture to provide a riot of fun prints, jewelry and hats. But perhaps the real standout of Miu Miu’s Resort show was the bejeweled fur slipper, an evolution of the pearl-covered one from Fall.

How to dial up the drama on a Gucci show? Host it in Westminster Abbey, which is what Michele did for his charmingly quirky Resort presentation, brimming with lighthearted references to British fashion history. Kilts, Union Jacks, Spice Girl boots and Staffordshire dog figurines all made their way into the hyper-eclectic collection. The king of novelty has done it again.

There’s no shortage of style originality at Fendi with Bag Bugs and Fendi Witches hitching a ride on Dotcoms and Peekaboos, while Karlito’s making an appearance on everything from clutches to sweatshirts. For those who believe in feet first, the Fendi Faces ballet flat in calfskin leather adds a playful touch to any outfit.

Known for her novelty prints, animal advocate Stella McCartney used a swan motif throughout her Fall Collection. The elegant bird glided onto whimsical tops, bags and even a pair of skinny boyfriend jeans.

Breezy nights and out-of-control air conditioning demand a cute way to cover up. Maje offers a selection of varsity-style satin bomber jackets decked out with bold graphics and blooms—to keep the chill and boredom at bay.
