Ferragamo’s Mini Me Moment

Fashion News
A chic set of kids show off their stylish Salvatore Ferragamo footwear.

Salvatore Ferragamo might be on the hunt for a new creative director and CEO but that hasn’t stopped the brand from turning out some killer collections. Already it has come up with some creative collaborations with handbag designer Sara Battaglia and jewelry maker Daniela Vilegas. And it just opened its biggest store in Europe, in the fashion capital of Paris. Its latest endeavor—taking on the booming children’s luxury market with a new capsule collection of footwear and accessories.

The line, which was unveiled at the Pitti Bimbo fair in Florence last month, is called Ferragamo Mini and it really is a carbon copy of the chic styles of shoes that loyal adult customers clamor for.  The house has reworked some of its most famous designs—including the Varina ballet flats and the Double Ganico mocassins—in sized down styles for boys and girls from ages 3 to 8 years old. The classic Vara handbag has also gotten the mini-me treatment so that mothers and daughters can play dress up together in matching accessories.

To celebrate the launch of the new capsule line, the house commissioned a delightful film that features well dressed children playing hide and seek. They are spotted peeking out from their parent’s Ferragamo filled wardrobe as well as tucked away between curtains, chairs and pillows. But in the end the kids are found, thanks in no small part to their colorful Ferragamo footwear.
