Behind every celebrity, model and socialite camera-ready moment, is a makeup squad who made it happen. That team of experts works tirelessly behind the scenes to make each appearance look both faultless and flawless. Here, we share our list of the top make-up artists working today who are sure to inspire your own beauty moments.

Tom Pecheux, creative director of the Estée Lauder makeup empire, is known for his color palettes that are inspired by the natural world. Pecheaux’s work has been seen in the pages of Vogue, Harper’s Bazzar and W as well as on the Chanel catwalks—including those unforgettable quilt-effect eye shadows in the most recent Chanel ready-to-wear show. His feed is a mix of fresh face models, personal snaps and clips of celebrities being transformed by his palette and brushes.

If there is one makeup artist who has become a household name it is Pat McGrath. She is the Global Creative Design Director for Procter & Gamble beauty—which means she has a hand in the makeup lines of Covergirl, Max Factor, Gucci and Dolce & Gabbana. Her imagination knows no bounds and she has come up with some of the most unforgettable looks of the past 20 years. Her runway work for Alexander McQueen, Givenchy, Prada and Dior are the stuff of legends.

A true make up icon, Francesa Tolot has had her hands on the faces of the world’s most beautiful women for decades. From Cate Blanchett, Salma Hayek and Julianne Moore to Oprah Winfrey, Demi Moore and Charlize Theron, Tolot has had them all in her chair. Besides innumerable magazine covers and fashion shows she has also done the makeup for films like Dream Girls, LA Confidential and The Thomas Crown Affair as well as a number of music videos for Beyonce and Madonna. Her feed reads like a who’s who of Hollywood A-listers.

On Gucci Westman’s Instagram feed she describes herself as Mommy first and makeup artist second. And her posts reflect the fact that her family plays a major role in her life as images of her kids mingle with those of supermodels and celebrities. She is the brain behind the makeup that carries the Revlon name and she is just as committed to great skincare products as she is to world of makeup. She is also married to the designer David Neville who is one half of the duo behind the highly successful Rag & Bone fashion brand.

Charlotte Tilbury’s commitment to make up is legendary. She famously never lets anyone see her without her makeup on (even her husband). She is the founder of her own eponymous beauty line—including her highly popular Magic Cream, which is known to bring a glow to all skin types. A true makeup guru, Tilbury not only works for all the leading brands and top fashion magazines, she also hobnobs with her celebrity subjects in her downtime.
