InstaInfluencer: Fashion Stylist Elisa Nalin

Fashion News

By Jessica Michault

Elisa Nalin is much more then a stylist, she is a fashion force of nature. Her delightfully, happy-go-lucky outfits have made her a favorite subject for photographers who stalk the fashion shows. Born in Verona, Italy, she studied fashion design at the Instituto Europeo del Design in Milan before moving to Paris to pursue a lucrative career as a leading fashion stylist. Here, she gives Bal Harbour Shops the inside scoop on the Instagram feeds she finds the most fascinating.

"Because Garance is Garance," exclaims Nalin. "She is not only a dear friend of mine but also a brilliant woman. Full of talent!" No argument here. Doré is beloved by the fashion world for her beautiful illustrations, female friendly photography and eponymous website that reads like the diary of a chic French friend who is leading a fabulous life filled with fashion and fun. Her sunny worldview is highly infectious.

The Lahssan feed has made a name for itself through its dedication to almost exclusively posting portraits. But, it’s the mix of subjects is what sets the Lahssan feed apart on Instagram. According to Nalin, “if you're not a Parisian or one fashion’s ‘cool’ set, the feed is full of unknown people.”

Nalin name-checked DJ and fashion world fixture Michel Gaubert for his "incredible sharp sense of humor" as one of the feeds she follows to bring a smile to her face. Gaubert's feed has become the stuff of legends on Instagram. He is a prolific poster with 19,000 humorous and highly original "where did he find that" posts already under his belt. His more then 182,000 followers prove that Gaubert's unique sense of humor and social commentary has made him a crossover hit on Instagram.

Sarah Lerfel, the soft spoken founder of the fashion mecca Colette, has quietly and tastefully built up a feed of whimsical and quirky posts that highlight both upcoming events at her uber cool store as well as more personal pics from her life outside of fashion. "Colette is a Parisian institution and Sarah always has the best new thing,” says Nalin. “And I adore the fab collaborations that she does." Also on the plus side, Lerfel is an avid "liker" if she decides to follow you back.
This feed, which features out of print and off the wall books for sale from the curators at the très cool Dover Street Market stores, has become a "must follow" for almost everyone in fashion. The imaginative visuals that are posted to promote a particular book available for purchase are a gold mine for stylists like Nalin. She readily admits she is always trolling the feed for inspiring tomes to spark ideas for up coming fashion shoots she is working on as well as books to add to her own private collection.
