Zegna celebrates the Monterubello Zegna watch collection, a new partnership with watchmaker Girard-Perregaux.

Zegna, the Italian luxury menswear company known for its sharp tailoring and sportswear, is continuing its flirtation with timepieces and this Fall introduces its new Monterubello Zegna watch collection. Comprised of two styles, Solo Tempo (in white or rose gold) and Chronograph (in rose gold), the Monterubello Collection was inspired by forties’ designs and exemplify everyday elegance.

Named for the Italian region where the Zegna family was born (and where founder Ermenegildo Zegna was made Conte di Monterubello in 1939), The Monterubello Collection is manufactured by acclaimed Swiss watchmaker Girard-Perregaux, with whom Zegna has a long-standing relationship with its owner, Gino Macaluso.

The Monterubello watch is a classic and conveys the eternal Zegna style. Gildo Zegna created this new line and took inspiration from a Nineteenth century pocket watch  (exhibited at the Casa Zegna museum) that used to belong to Michelangelo Zegna, father of his grandfather and watchmaker by trade.

“The collaboration with Gino Macaluso has been extraordinary,” says Zegna’s CEO Gildo Zegna. “We started in 2010 with the launch of the Zegna Centennial Limited Edition Watch, and from the beginning I found Gino to be the ideal companion on this journey as we share common values that are rooted in family tradition. Today the Monterubello project is continued by Stefano and Massimo Macaluso, and I am proud to celebrate this launch with a special tribute to my friend Gino, without whom this would not have been possible.”

The Solo Tempo and the Chronograph both complement Zegna’s fall offerings, including the double-sided leather trench coat, plush bordeaux cardigan and sporty wool suits.
