Eye Catching

Fashion News
One-of-a-kind sunglasses from the Le Gemme Rare line by Bulgari.

Eyewear as accessory is not a new concept—especially in South Florida. But luxury jewelry house Bulgari is upping the ante on eyewear with a new collection of super luxe, bejeweled lenses.

Called Le Gemme, the collection plays up Bulgari’s natural influences, particularly its iconic sapphire flower motif that originated in the 1950s. Le Gemme is comprised of three lines: Primavera for women, Zephyr for men and the limited edition line, Le Gemme Rare. The latter is comprised of 10 one-of-kind eyeglasses enriched with precious stones such as diamonds and sapphires and is handcrafted by Italian artisans.

Primavera is a cat-eye shape in either black or brown frames with gold-plated arms, or the more luxe models which incorporate semiprecious stones, like amethyst, citrines, pink quartz, set in 18-karat solid yellow, white or rose gold.

The men’s Zephyr line, like Primavera, includes sunglasses and optical lenses. The sunglasses are aviator-shaped in titanium, and include white or yellow gold accents on the more luxe models. The rectangular shaped optical lenses are available in either gold or titanium or gold-plated.

The ultimate expression of luxury eyewear—from materials to process—is Le Gemme Rare. Comprised of 10 unique pieces, the models include rubies, emeralds, pink, yellow and blue sapphires, mother-of-pearl, peridot and pave diamonds. Each frame takes more than 80 hours to complete.

Available in October at Bulgari Bal Harbour Shops.
