SofĂa Sanchez de Betak in Kenya

If you ever find yourself at the airport, curiously eyeing your fashionable neighbor’s suitcase and wondering just where they’re going and what they’re packing, this book is for you. Assouline’s new book, “Travels with Chufy: Confidential Destinations,” takes a close look at the travel habits of the jetsetting art director and style influencer, Sofía Sanchez de Betak.

Why Chufy? Because this Argentina-born, New York City-based globetrotter has a knack for sniffing out the most authentic—and luxurious—travel destinations in the world.

Loaded with personal stories of her travels—including Naples’s Albergo del Purgatorio, where guests are asked to leave behind a book of their choosing; the Marco Polo Mansion, owned by a painter whose works in progress adorn the hotel and a ryokan in Kyoto operated by the same family for three centuries.

For the more adventurous travelers, explore the great outdoors, from the savannahs of Kenya to the glacial bays of Iceland to the soaring mountains of Patagonia, where de Betak spent much of her childhood.

And when it comes to offering advice on what to pack and what to bring home, de Betak does not hold back. Sage advice like layering lightweight silks and cashmeres will ensure you have plenty of room in that rollerboard for some chic souvenirs.

On your way over to Books & Books to pick up this title, be sure to pop by The Webster where de Betak’s new fashion collection has just debuted. Talk about traveling in style!
