SOBEWFF Comes to Bal Harbour Shops

Culture Watch

The Food Network & Cooking Channel South Beach Wine & Food Festival returns to Miami this week, and Bal Harbour Shops is committed to proving just how fashionable food can be. For those hungry for some kitchen inspiration, Books & Books Bal Harbour is just the place to whet your palate with three unmissable author presentations by Martha Stewart, Gabrielle Hamilton and Michael Solomonov.

A highlight of SOBEWFF is one of Bal Harbour Shops’ own events, (which is unsurprisingly sold out), a truffle-fueled dinner hosted by Martha Stewart, Hugo Carmona, Antonio Bachour and Craig Wallen at Le Zoo on Friday night. (Stewart also has a sold-out event at Books & Books prior to the dinner on Friday evening.) The affair will have those lucky enough to have snagged a ticket to the Le Zoo dinner feeling like they’ve been whisked away to St. Tropez, enjoying French cuisine perfectly paired with Château D'Esclans Whispering Angel, which is celebrating its 10th anniversary. The celebration of gastronomical delights continues the following day with two chef appearances at Books & Books.

Saturday, February 25, 1:00 PM - 2:00 PM
Chef Gabrielle Hamilton, the James Beard Award-winning chef/owner of New York City’s East Village hotspot PRUNE, sits down with The New York Times’ food editor Sam Sifton to chat about her recipe for success—PRUNE’s brunch is as well known for its hours-long wait as it is for its eggs en cocotte. Hamilton is also the author of “Prune” and The New York Times’ bestselling memoir “Blood, Bones & Butter: The Inadvertent Education of a Reluctant Chef,” both of which can be purchased and signed on site.

Saturday, February 25, 3:30 PM - 4:30 PM
Philadelphia has long held a reputation for being a foodie city, and James Beard Award-winning chef Michael Solomonov is a key piece of that moniker. Lucky for us, he’s expanding his culinary reach, opening one of his first outposts of the wildly popular Federal Donuts in Wynwood and Nashville. His restaurant Zahav is consistently ranked among the country’s favorites and the other outfits he’s affiliated with—Dizengoff, Abe Fisher and Dizengoff NYC inside Chelsea Market—continue his dedication to Mediterranean-infused cuisine. Sam Sifton again joins the chef for an inspiring conversation, followed by a book signing of Solomonov’s award-winning cookbook “Zahav: A World of Israeli Cooking.”
