Get Ready for Destination Fashion!

Culture Watch
The 2012 Destination Fashion event raised more than $31 million for The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis.

Destination Fashion is back! As part of Bal Harbour Shops’ 50th Anniversary year, South Florida’s most anticipated night in fashion returns in high style on March 5.

Headlining the star-studded event benefitting The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis is NBC Today Show co-anchor Savannah Guthrie, who will serve as the evening’s emcee. She will be joined by honorary Co-Chairs Grammy Award winners Gloria and Emilio Estefan, Academy Award winner Tommy Lee Jones and his wife, Dawn, and actor Christian Slater and his wife, Brittany.

Though the one-of-a-kind evening will have many highlights—including the “Too Good to Keep Silent” auction, with luxury items donated by Bal Harbour’s brands—the buzz is centered around this year’s musical performance by global music icon Pitbull (“Mr. Worldwide”) and the spectacular Neiman Marcus fashion show, presenting Brunello Cucinelli’s Spring 2016 collection.

“I couldn’t be happier to be supporting The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, who make a meaningful and important difference in people’s lives every day,” says the brand’s namesake designer. “I am honored to be supporting such an influential organization and cause. Neiman Marcus is a true pioneer in retail and a very dear partner to the Brunello Cucinelli brand. It is a pleasure to be included in an inspiring, powerful and purposeful event.”

There truly is no other evening as spectacularly ambitious as this, during which Bal Harbour Shops transforms into an al fresco extravaganza, with more than 2,000 guests enjoying an unforgettable fête under the stars. With the last Destination Fashion in 2012 raising $31 million for The Miami Project/The Buoniconti Fund to Cure Paralysis, the bar is set even higher for this year’s event.

The Buoniconti Fund and celebrity guests will also salute the 2016 Women of Substance & Style, including the conferral of the Presenting Sponsor Award to Swanee and Paul DiMare; the Humanitarian Award to Stanley Whitman, Randy Whitman and Matthew Whitman Lazenby; the Christine E. Lynn Champion for a Cure Award to Micky and Madeleine Arison; the Outstanding Philanthropists Award to Gloria and Emilio Estefan; The Buoniconti Fund Leadership Awards to Christine E. Lynn and Lois Pope; and The Miami Project Spirit of Giving Award to Edie Laquer.
