Chopard’s Moment in the limelight

By definition, an environmentalist is a person who is concerned with or advocates the protection of the environment. Earth warriors. Conservationists. Nature lovers. Taking on such titles is not just a chosen responsibility; it is a life-altering path; an entirely new way of being. Chopard is fortunate enough to have Caroline Scheufele, one of these few and remarkable individuals, as its co-president and artistic director.

Scheufele and Chopard’s dedication to these environmental endeavors were recently recognized at the 20th edition of the Bravo Business Awards, which honors the most influential business leaders in the Americas. Livia Firth, founder of the Green Carpet Challenge presented Scheufele with the “Environmentalist of the Year” award. This prestigious title celebrated “The Journey to Sustainable Luxury,” a multi-year program, which was launched by Chopard at the Cannes Film Festival in partnership with none other than Firth herself.

The Journey’s inception took place through a philanthropic relationship between Chopard and the South American mining NGO, the Alliance for Responsible Mining (ARM). By sourcing from businesses and suppliers that solely use environmentally and socially conscious practices, Chopard has proudly become the first watch and luxury jewelry company to support and enable mining communities, paving the way to new standards in the luxury retail industry.

“As a century old, family-run business, we are very aware of our responsibilities in our journey to sustainable luxury,” says Caroline Scheufele. “It is not an easy journey, but it is the right one. The Journey is the start of a very exciting multi-year program that will ensure we are working toward our goal of sustainable jewelry.”

In accordance with The Green Carpet Challenge (GCC) ethical benchmarking, Chopard proudly created the Green Carpet Collection—reminding us all to be the change we wish to see in this world.
