Chopard Shines at Cannes

The Riviera jewellery set, composed of a dazzling diamond necklace and matching earrings, required over 1,000 hours of craftsmanship and totals over 100 carats of diamonds.

There’s enough star wattage at the Cannes Film Festival to make even the brightest diamond to feel outshined. But that’s a challenge Chopard takes on again as the Official Partner of the festival.

The romance between Chopard and the Cannes Film Festival has blossomed continuously since 1998, the year Chopard became the Official Partner of the world’s most renowned film festival. Since the 60th anniversary of the Festival in 2007, Caroline Scheufele, Co-President and Artistic Director of Chopard, has annually created an original Haute Joaillerie collection intended to exalt the beauty of the actresses for their red carpet appearance: the Red Carpet Collection.

Each spring, the famous “Red Carpet” of the Festival is the showcase of dazzling new creations with Chopard taking up the extraordinary challenge of introducing a number of high jewellery pieces equal to the number of Cannes Film Festival editions.

For this year, the 67th edition, 67 unique creations inspired by the glamour and the voluptuous beauty of the actresses who lit up the heyday Italian cinema of the 1950’s and 1960’s will be unveiled.

With guests like Blake Lively, Jane Fonda, Sofia Coppola, Zhang Ziyi, Chiara Mastroianni and Willem Dafoe coming out for their film premieres, Chopard had to pull out a major sparkler for this new collection. Without question, that would be the Riviera jewellery set, composed of a dazzling diamond necklace and matching earrings. This masterpiece required over 1,000 hours of craftsmanship and totals over 100 carats of brilliant cut, marquise cut and rose cut pear shaped diamonds.

Beyond the jewels, Chopard has a few more treats in store at Cannes. The rooftop of the Martinez Hotel will be home to Chopard Rooftop, an exclusive venue hosting a number of celebrities over the course of the festival.

Chopard will present a new Palme d’Or—the ‘jewel’ of the Cannes—made for the first time in ‘Fairmined’ certified gold. As usual, Chopard will host the Mini-Palmes, awarding Best Actor/Actrress, the Caméra d’Or and the Chopard Trophies.
