The Original Skinny Bitch

Culture Watch

Join Kim Barnouin, famed author of the Skinny Bitch suite of books, at Bal Harbour Shops on Tuesday, November 8th for a special evening dedicated to natural beauty at Gee Beauty. Enjoy mini-makeovers with Gee's bespoke line of cosmetics and products and learn how to bring our your inner beauty with a little love on the outside. Barnouin will also be signing copies of her new book, "Skinny Bitch: Home, Beauty & Style: A No-Nonsense Guide to Cutting the Crap Out of Your Life for a Better Body and a Kinder World."

Barnouin has already told her fans how to “stop eating crap and start looking fabulous,” but there’s more to being a Skinny Bitch than eating well. Turns out, there’s crap everywhere—not just in food, but in cosmetics, clothing and even in furniture. In order to tackle these new nasties, Barnouin brings us "Skinny Bitch: Home, Beauty & Style: A No-Nonsense Guide to Cutting the Crap Out of Your Life for a Better Body and a Kinder World."

Since 2005, Barnouin has spread the “Skinny Bitch” series message with coauthor Rory Freedman. In Barnouin’s new book she explains how toxins from household items such as paint and upholstery affect our bodies and the environment. Clothing and personal beauty items are similarly scrutinized with the sass and attitude.

Skinny Bitch: Home, Beauty & Style is a comprehensive resource on the most environmentally healthy products to use for the home and body. In our chemical-laden lifestyles, Barouin seeks to educate the busy woman on harmful ingredients found in our everyday products and all the unhealthy things we take for granted. For example, did you know that tap water is healthier than bottled water? The government is robust on testing tap water for contaminants but bottled water...not so much. Barnouin covers more topics in her book, ranging from the best bedding products to use for a great night’s sleep to the worst chemicals in your everyday beauty products.

The reception will be held outside of Gee Beauty in the La Goulue alcove at 6 p.m.
