The living room inside the Tiffany Suite at the St. Regis in New York City.

By Tali Jaffe

Last month two of the brands that most embody American glamour, St. Regis and Tiffany & Co., unveiled their latest collaboration—the all-new Tiffany Suite at the St. Regis Fifth Avenue. The combination of these quintessentially New York brands has resulted in the perfect union of modern elegance.

We caught up with St. Regis’ senior designer, Caroline Rippeteau, to discuss what it’s like to live in a Tiffany universe—even if only for a short stay.

Can you tell us a bit about how the relationship between Tiffany & Co and the St. Regis began?
Sharing rich heritages in New York, The St. Regis New York and Tiffany & Co. are both housed in storied landmark buildings and boast Fifth Avenue addresses with a long tradition of serving royalty, business leaders and celebrities, as well as the Astor family.  The original Tiffany Suite debuted at The St. Regis New York in the early 1990s under the design direction of John Loring.

When did the original Tiffany Suite open?
The original Tiffany Suite debuted at The St. Regis New York in the early 1990s under the design direction of John Loring, Tiffany’s Design Director Emeritus.

Has the suite been received well so far?
The Tiffany Suite was recently unveiled last week at The St. Regis New York. Both the hotel and Tiffany & Co. are thrilled with the design … and we have already had a number of inquiries regarding bookings.

Which elements of the Tiffany brand have been incorporated into the suite?
Not only were we inspired by the signature Tiffany blue, which we used throughout the suite, we were also inspired by Tiffany jewelry and incorporated jewel inspired references throughout the suite including an intricate jewel-shaped mirror in the entryway which hangs above a console which references one of Tiffany’s most iconic pieces, the engagement ring.  Additionally, all of the tabletop and barware were provided by Tiffany; and there is Tiffany china, silverware, glasses and small accessories found throughout the suite.

How does this suite differ from some of the other superior suites at the hotel?
The Tiffany Suite is a one of a kind suite, yet still reflects the St. Regis’ commitment to outstanding luxury and bespoke service.

Was the design a collaborative effort between the two brands?
Yes, the Tiffany Suite was a joint collaboration between Tiffany & Co. and The St. Regis New York. The St. Regis brand design team oversaw the design and construction of the suite.

What are some of the most unique amenities that the suite offers?
All of the diningware and barware was provided by Tiffany; and there is Tiffany china, silverware, glasses and small accessories found throughout the suite. Additionally, guests who book the “Sparkling Duo” package to stay in the Tiffany Suite have private access to Tiffany’s exclusive salon.

Are there any plans to expand the Tiffany Suite to any other St. Regis locations?
The Tiffany Suite at The St. Regis New York is a one of a kind suite with no expansion plans at the moment.
