The Other Side Of The Picture

Culture Watch

Fans of fashion’s darling-cum-unemployed Olivier Theyskens will be thrilled by The Other Side of the Picture (Assouline), which goes behind-the-scenes of his all-too-brief stints as artistic director for both Rochas and Nina Ricci. While sales were a constant struggle, critical acclaim was anything but for the Belgium-born, Paris-based designer. The Council of Fashion Designers of America bestowed upon him their coveted International Award, and his imaginative pieces were favorites of editors, stylists and celebrities. Vogue’s Sally Singer provides the text, with photographer Julien Claessens supplying the all-access images.
