Happy Anniversary, Louboutin!

The designer Christian Louboutin autographs the soles of hundreds of adoring fans.

It's hard to imagine a time without Christian Louboutin. His highly-coveted heels have stirred plenty of frenzies over the years, and it's not uncommon for a new look to sell out in a matter of days. And many will remember the waiting lists for that perfect nude pump, studded heel or hidden platform.

To celebrate 20 years of his signature red-soled heels, Christian Louboutin has been dropping in on select retailers across the globe for a seemingly never-ending party. “In France, 20 years defines a generation,” explains Christian Louboutin. “This is a celebration of the first generation of this brand.”

A simple appearance just won't satisfy his legions of adoring fans, though. So Louboutin is giving his shoe addicts just what they need: more shoes! The 20th Anniversary capsule collection presents the most iconic looks from the last two decades in this limited edition collection, available stateside next month.

Guests of the event also had the opportunity to purchase the designer's monograph, which was published last fall by Rizzoli.

But until then, Louboutin is traipsing from store to store, including Saks Fifth Avenue Bal Harbour, where he greeted the more than 600 people in attendance last week. Guests at the Saks event enjoyed mojitos and delicious Cuban appetizers from Bongo’s Café as they waited patiently in line to meet Mr. Louboutin and get his famously trademarked red sole purchases autographed on the spot. Check out the exclusive photos here.

As fort the forthcoming capsule collection, Louboutin devotees will delight in the reappearance of some classic looks that have been brought back and slightly revised for the anniversary. Each style included in this special collection is rich with history, full of life and carries with it a unique story of creation and inspiration.

Other events to honor Louboutin’s landmark year include a retrospective exhibition at London's Design Museum which opens next month, as well as a collaboration with the famed Parisian cabaret venue Le Crazy Horse, for whom he's directed four original tableaux.
