Welcome, CH Carolina Herrera!

Carolina Herrera de Baez.

By Tali Jaffe

The new CH Carolina Store recently opened its doors at Bal Harbour, making it the eleventh U.S. store to debut since the line launched in 2008.

While the line is under the direction of Carolina Herrera, Herrera’s daughter, Carolina Herrera de Baez, has been a consultant there since 2009. This season Herrera de Baez presents her first capsule collection for the brand with the new Mini Matryoshka bag.

The new Mini Matryoshka capsule collection.

This limited edition collection created by Herrera de Báez will be on sale exclusively at Carolina Herrera and CH Carolina Herrera boutiques this spring. “I wanted to inject a bit of whimsy into these bags and design a bag full of personality that could serve as both a day and evening accessory,” says Herrera de Baez. “As someone who usually carries large bags, I think that the mini version portrays a relaxed, sophisticated and very feminine lifestyle. It is a truly chic accessory for carrying just the essentials.”

The collection drew from the Spring 2012 Carolina Herrera collection in terms of its colors and Bauhaus aesthetic. Seven different models made in Goya leather—a fabric exclusively created for CH Carolina Herrera and has only been used on the most emblematic pieces of the brand—comprise the capsule collection.

The new CH Carolina Herrera store will carry all CH Carolina Herrera collections including womenswear, menswear and accessories.
While remaining true to the brand’s characteristic interior design style, it also incorporates architectural and stylistic elements associated with Bal Harbour.

The space has been conceived as a whole in which unifying elements coexist: moldings on the ceiling and tables incorporating subtle references to the brand logo are set alongside silk rugs and fine curtains. Some select pieces from the 18th and 19th century, such as the Louis XVI armchair or the French easy chairs upholstered in Abousson fabric, are integrated into the three rooms, sharing the space with Art Deco elements such as the natural brass Laurel lamps.
